All in the family

So it appears that Monotype Imaging has just purchased Linotype GmbH.

Monotype is probably best known to designers as resellers of typefaces. Also, according to their website:

"We supply font and imaging solutions to OEMs of printers and MFPs, manufacturers and developers of consumer electronics devices such as mobile phones and set-top boxes, developers of system software and application software, and to creative professionals worldwide."

Linotype is also well known for reselling typefaces, as well as probably the least-known yet best-performing free font management application for OS X, FontExplorer X.
